Manure Spreader Parts

Posted by Jason at 2009-12-11 14:30:04

I am looking for a source of parts for a IH / McCormick Manure spreader parts. I broke the appron chain on mine last night and need to get parts as soon as possable.

Response by jwaller at 2009-12-12 02:24:05

I have found the apron links are pretty much interchangeable. Try Fleet Farm and get plenty. If one breaks, there are other weak ones, too.

Messy job to spread the apron out and start to replace the chain. Lots of rivets, lots of dirty parts.

Response by LaDon at 2009-12-12 15:11:45

In our area, (South Alabama) Tractor Supply has the chain.

Response by Ralph in N.E.Oh at 2009-12-12 17:23:11

Best thing to do is get inside of the spreader and roll in the manure before you start working on it. If you try to stay clean you'll just get frustrated. Embrace the job, attack it with gusto, then shower afterwards........ Thank God for wash and wear skin.

Response by KM at 2009-12-13 21:22:10

Amen Ralph! Been there done that too many times to count. Grandpa always had these derilict spreaders that were always breaking somewhere. When the oldest one finally gave up the ghost we bought a good one. Still a spreader and they still aren't fool proof but a darn sight less to work on that those old ones. This one has 2 chains so much less stress on the chain. KM

Response by Ted at 2009-12-13 21:23:45

Do you have #67 or #67H links, or do you have S links? The last horse drawn spreader I had was an I H 200. It had an S link apron, they are longer pitch and some heavier than a #67 H link. I doubt Fleet Farm carries them, you need to go to an IH shop.

Response by Bret4207 at 2009-12-15 08:33:39

If it's a 200 spreader with the "S" chain Valu-bilt carries the apron chain and parts. I'm switching mine over to 67H chain, but it's a bear to do.

The IH 200 with the double beaters and solid widespread was about the best spreader ever built IMO.

Response by Jason at 2009-12-16 09:47:25

Well, I took everyones ideas into mind, I first rolled in the spreader, them I got real mad (before I even started, just to get that out of the way) then I had the parts, got them at tractor Supply, and and hour later it was fixed, it realy was not that bad, I believe that is it a IH 200 and it is a great spreader, I do need to get a new or replacement wide spread (the spiral behind the beeters) Thanks for all the help and ideas.

Jason

Response by jwaller at 2009-12-17 02:37:54

I had the bearing go out on the wide spread of one of my Minnesota spreaders about 4 years ago. Took it off and just load that one lighter. Spreads fine with just the beaters. Especially chicken manure. Light and "fluffy".

Response by jwaller at 2009-12-17 12:45:58

I looked at those new S links. They look like the sure thing, to me anyway.

Response by Mike Nye at 2010-05-26 10:26:25

I need some parts for a JD 44 spreader. I need the bearing holder on the drum and I need the links for the apron.

Response by Jay Moyer at 2010-05-27 10:47:26

John Deere should have them, they will be pricey but they should have them

Response by Karen Rumble at 2011-04-29 07:29:28

We have a Richard Western SDS Manure Spreader and have damaged some cogs in the gearbox. As this is the old type gearbox, parts are hard to obtain. Can any one help, who may be breaking an old machine for spares

Thank you

Response by Dennis Buermann at 2012-08-24 19:25:44

Sprocket for a Minnesota Manure Spreader - old but not certain of the age. It has a big roller chain that runs over it, it is the small sprocket on the gear box that drives the apron.
Serial number: 0031084 made in Stillwater Prison.
No dates.

Thank you for your help!

Contents List

McCormick Mss 8Z

Part 1 (McCormick Mss 8Z): Original Collection, 1879-1995
205.4 c.f. (251 archives boxes and 621 volumes)
: Operator's manuals, service manuals, parts catalogs and instruction tags for International Harvester agricultural, construction and refrigeration equipment. Operator's manuals usually include directions for operation, setup and basic maintenance; a list of parts; and non-dimensional drawings of parts. Service manuals include instructions and illustrations for maintenance, overhaul, and repair. Parts catalogs include lists of parts, non-dimensional drawings of parts, and a master index to part numbers. Parts lists sometimes include model numbers, dates used, and prices. The series includes a complete set of operator's manuals produced between 1910 and 1952. Operator's manuals produced before 1910 and after 1952 are incomplete. Parts manuals are incomplete, particularly after 1950, and the series contains relatively few service manuals.
: The series is divided into two parts. The first part (1879-1984) consists of loose operator's, parts and service manuals arranged by document number, filed in boxes, and described in a database. The second part (1894-1952) consists of operator's manuals bound in hardcover volumes. Before 1940, the bound manuals are arranged by year and thereunder by division and type of implement. After 1940, they are arranged by year and thereunder by catalog number. To find a catalog number use the Index to Manuals and Parts Catalogs-1953 which is available online at the Wisconsin Historical Society website or contact the McCormick-International Harvester archivist. The bound manuals are gradually being added to the technical publications database.

International 100 spreader

The McCormick-Deering Model 100 manure spreader is a popular implement with Cub owners.  Its small size compliments the Cub in show as well as in the field.  With a capacity of thirty-five bushels it is perfect for the small tractor. These can still be found on the market, usually on agricultural web sites or ads such as Craigslist.

All too often many of these spreaders have missing or broken parts. The side shields are one of the items commonly missing or damaged.  These were often damaged when other equipment, such a tractor with a loader, bump them during use. If damaged to the point they hindered the operation of the spreader they were cast of to the side and never reinstalled. At times the shields would be removed for maintenance and not reinstalled, but stored in a barn or other outbuilding. Sometimes the spreader would be sold and the shields are forgotten about as they lay in storage.

The Model 100 is perfect behind a Cub.  It's compact size allows the Cub to pull it where ever needed. The model pictured is complete with both shields in place.

Many small horse farms like the size of this spreader since it can be easily pulled with an ATV such as a quad or many of today’s sub compact tractors.  Their versatility allows them to be maneuvered into tight spaces found on smaller farms. This popularity makes the Model 100 even harder to find for sale.  Many times a seller knows exactly what they have and the value of it so you can expect to pay a premium for one when available.

Some folks tend to confuse the Model 100 with its big brother the Model 200.  While similar in looks, the 100 is shorter by about 3 feet.  The Model 200 can be pulled by a Cub, but its size limits the operator to a much smaller load.  The Model 200 is not as much in demand so the value around our area is much less than that of the 100.  A decent looking, working Model 100 will bring $400.00-$700.00 in this area, while a refurbished model can demand much higher prices.  Similarly, one requiring repairs, tires, or missing parts can bring the value down to $100.00 or so.

The floor of the one I found is in excellent condition.  Many times the wood is rotted and the frame is rusted away.  This spreader appears to have been well taken care of.

I had been looking for a McCormick-Deering Model 100 spreader for quite some time.  All the ones I came across were either badly rusted, missing chain guards, had the wood bottoms rotted out or were in general need of major mechanical repairs. The cost to make any of the repairs, along with the purchase price, made owning one a high cost item.

Ebay always had a 100 offered for bid, but the prices there were often way above board or the owner never described them accurately.  Here again you would pay an arm and a leg for something you were not sure of. Many times when the price was right and the spreader was decent you would find that the thing is 1,500 miles away. Now you gotta add gas and travel time into the equation and you are back to an over-priced toy again.

Finally I happened to be surfing Craigslist fifteen minutes after a 100 had been posted.  The thing was sixty miles away and $300.00–$400.00 less than many I had seen.  Not only that, but it was described as in “good” condition.  After taking a Sunday drive what I found was a spreader that was in a little less than “excellent” condition.  The guy said there were almost a dozen calls for it but since I was first to call I had first claim to it.  With it being in such good shape I knew he wasn’t trying to pull a fast one.

Needless to say it ended up on my trailer pretty quick and took a ride to the barnyard.

The body of this spreader is solid.  I have seen a few good ones on the market, but the prices have always been sky high.  This one came along at the right time and the right price.

Further, according to the plot of the film, the girl was alone with the chairman of the selection committee. He said that in order to win the competition, you need to show not only your external data, but also something else. As he did so, he unbuttoned his pants. Igor began to caress the clitoris with his finger, however, I was already tired.

And could no longer get aroused.

But the further we went deeper into the woods, the more the situation became easier. Soon, that wonderful meadow, covered with velvet grass, fenced off from prying eyes by dense bushes and a convenient lake shore nearby, where we were striving. But a hundred meters behind, we met another person.

Will it really fail or have to look for another place. But then we got there.

Masha swallowed it like bait and did not even think to let go, but, on the contrary, squeezed her scarlet lips. Vadim was breathing heavily, watching as the head of his penis disappeared in Masha's mouth. After a moment, he made the third (!!!) movement of the member forward. It entered my wife's mouth another 5-6 cm.

Masha, not expecting this, choked.
